Liturgy Groups

A number of different parish groups all come together to celebrate Mass. Find out about these groups here.

Altar Servers
The servers assist the priest on the sanctuary during Mass and are members of the Guild of St Stephen. New altar servers are always welcome - women, men, girls and boys.

St Winefride's Choir
The choir is made up of all age groups and we provide music for Mass on Sunday mornings, additional 'special' services and weddings. We meet to practice on Monday evenings at 7.15pm in church when everyone is welcome.

St Winefrides Catholic Church Children and Young Peoples Provisions

Toddler Church: This is for all pre-school children and their parents, carers, grandparents or childminders. The service takes place on a Wednesday morning at 10.15am in church during term times only. The sessions consist of a short toddler friendly service with activities, singing and prayer followed by refreshments in the church hall. Parents attending the group take part in preparing and leading the sessions if they wish to.

Childrens' Liturgy Group: Childrens’ liturgies take part during Sunday morning 10am mass on the 1st and 5th Sunday of the month (excluding August) and on additional Sundays for special celebrations. All children aged 4 to 11 years old are invited to attend. The group is run by volunteer leaders who have been approved via the diocesan safeguarding processes. Children are expected to attend without parents accompanying them once they have settled in.

If you would like further information on any of the above groups within the parish please do not hesitate to speak with Fr Patrick or Teresa Norris at church.

If you are interested in volunteering within any of the groups please see Fr Patrick.

Mass and Church Care Ministries
Everyone is welcome to participate in Mass ministries: welcoming, reading, and taking part in the preparation of gifts.
New recruits are always welcome for the church care ministries: the Flower Guild, the church cleaning, the brasses, the sacred vessels, the laundry and the money collectors and counters. All these roles are vital to keep the church going and everyone who participates is warmly thanked.

Social activities

St Winefride's Ladies Group.
At our meeting in July the members of St Winefride's UCM voted to disband the group. This decision was made after a lot of thought and discussion, but became inevitable when no-one felt able to be nominated as president of the group. The members did, however, decide to re-form in September under a different name. We will continue to meet in the spirit of fellowship and friendship which has become strong over our time together, working to support the needs of our own parish. We  welcome any new members to the group.
